The Magic City are set to stir up a sterling sonic cocktail with their riveting self-titled debut album, and you are cordially invited to the official record release party. It goes down Friday, May 22 at The Burren in Somerville, an all-ages affair designed to jumpstart the holiday weekend alongside longtime confidants and co-conspirators Lonely Leesa and the Lost Cowboys.
Led by a trio of singles, including the defiant “Ozma Is My Shadow,” the record weaves themes of spiritual liberation, rejuvenation, and rebirth through the Boston modern rock band’s gritty and glittery sound.
Slinging tender aggression through a melodic and physical style that blends Cool Britannia, glam rock, post-punk, power-pop, art-rock, and indie, The Magic City take their moniker from a fictional urban landscape that exists as a combination of their hometown and their spiritual city of London, echoing the style, spirit, and vitality of both places. Come raise a glass.
