Las Tres Matanceras traces three generations of Cuban women through Cuban musical tradition, free jazz, and archival video--a sonic family portrait honoring the seeds of intergenerational motherhood, immigration, and diaspora that make us who we are. Composer and bandleader Christopher Carlos Montejo leads his ensemble Los Mambiseros through a performance arc rooted in ancestral memory, presented as part of The Listening Room, an intimate performance series hosted at The Substation in collaboration with Citixen Joy.
