Local favorites The Jazz Punishers kick off PCA jazz series


Enjoy an evening of classic jazz at the historic Parish Center for Arts at Westford Common, on SAT DEC 1 at 7:30pm. This versatile quintet features Westford’s own Marcia Macres, lead vocalist, and Jason Macres on saxophones. Jason is also a co-founder of The Real School of Music, a training ground for young musicians. Rounding out the group, are well known Boston jazz artists, Jim Zaroulis on keyboards and piano, Michael Payette on bass, and Brendan Byrnes on drums. To learn more about The Jazz Punishers musicians and hear some music, visit www.jazzpunishers.com Their quirky name indicates the band members’ sense of humor and lightheartedness about the music they love to play. The group bring a fresh twist to favorite jazz standards from John Coltrane to Ella Fitzgerald. Always in demand, the Jazz Punishers have performed at numerous venues from Newburyport to Needham and their diverse style ranges from traditional to contemporary, along with funk, pop, R&B/Soul, and Afro-Cuban. Warm up this winter with some hot jazz and BYO food and drinks.
