The Foundation started as a free weekly training program for local New England dancers, and has turned into a bi-yearly dance battle event and fundraising effort for the SSW's annual flagship festival, Stackin’ Stylez Freestyle Dance Festival.


Compared to Stackin’ Stylez, The Foundation began as a much more intimate event. Because of its size, it became a more encouraging and collaborative space, where amateur dancers battle for the first time and experienced competitors can be more exploratory.


This Summer we are adding a twist called the 'cover jam' which we will have live musicians accompanying our DJ for the dance battles. Then for the semi finals and final round of the competition, the musicians will play covers of songs that we typically dance/battle to.
