Join the Boston Poetry Slam for an evening at More Than Words! Poetry slam, an American tradition spanning three decades, combines poetry, storytelling, personal narrative, stand-up comedy, stand-up heartbreak, and the best spirit of a full-emotional-contact sporting event to create a stunningly fun theatrical experience. Led by MC Simone Beaubien, all-star poets from the Boston Poetry Slam take the stage to earn snaps from listeners and points from judges chosen as hastily as possible from the audience. Everyone is invited to attend to listen in, share on the open mic, or judge the slam.

Featured Poets:
torrin a. greathouse
RebeccaLynn
Allison Truj
John Pinkham

Open Mic
If you'd like to sign up for an open mic spot, please email events@mtwyouth.org.

Tickets to the slam are by donation. All proceeds support More Than Words, a nonprofit social enterprise that empowers young adults who are in the foster care system, court-involved, homeless, or out of school to take charge of their lives by taking charge of a business.

The Boston Poetry Slam is the third-longest-running poetry slam in the world, two-time National Poetry Slam team champions, and two-time host of the National Poetry Slam. Founded in 1991, the show presents an open mic, headlining poet and slam competition and is held weekly at the Cantab Lounge, located at 738 Massachusetts Ave. in Cambridge, Mass. Poetry begins at 8:00 every Wednesday.

About MC Simone Beaubien: Simone Beaubien is the longtime host of the world-famous Boston Poetry Slam, eight-time competitor at the National Poetry Slam, and accidental slam community leader. She has been a National Poetry Slam Finalist, an Individual World Poetry Slam Finals MC, and the one-time voice of whether or not poetry is dead on WGBH Radio. She works a paramedic in the greater Boston area.

Parents and chaperones are reminded that poetry slam is an uncensored event and may contain some strong language, adult themes, and unfiltered ideas.
