As you may have heard or wondered about that small change to our header above, we’re launching a new app! 2023 will mark 10 years of our small team bootstrapping The Boston Calendar (TBC) and sharing interesting, fun, under-publicized, mostly free things to do around the city with Bostonians (and non-locals). Over the years, we’ve been lucky enough to grow a loyal audience, and one of the questions we’ve heard from our users over and over again is when we’re launching an app. And the day has come, we’re finally making it happen.
Joyraft is The Boston Calendar, but better and more easily accessible. Using Joyraft, you can find after-hours museum parties, newly opened restaurants & bars, themed trivia, gallery openings, and so much more. One of the best parts of Joyraft is how simple it is to discover can’t-miss events around the city before they happen. Even better, Joyraft’s content is curated based on your personal interests.
After downloading the app (if you’re quick enough, you can still pick one of those impossible-to-get-on-Insta handles for your Joyraft account), you’ll be brought to the Feed! Here, you’ll peruse a number of soon-to-happen experiences hand picked for you based on your interests and what’s popular around the city. You’ll also come across posts by local guides (who know Boston like the back of their hand) sharing upcoming or can’t-miss happenings around the city in compelling video form.
If you want to be more specific in your search, you can hop over to Discover. Here, you’ll find Joyraft’s entire library of exciting activities around the city. You can narrow down your search by date, interests, or search terms. Most of the events & experiences are added by event organizers themselves, which ensures the information is accurate. Under each experience, you will find details such as the host, pricing, description, location, and more.
If you like the experiences you see, you can save them for later. Cue our most exciting feature: Collections. A Collection is a space for you (and anyone on the app!) to curate experiences that you’re excited about. Think girls’ night out, date ideas, weekend activities & so much more. Every week, we will send you our carefully curated Joyraft Collections. These are just like The Boston Calendar’s famous roundups, but in a much more attractive and easy-to-access-and-view package.
As if that is not enough good stuff already, you can take advantage of all other things Joyraft has to offer to make the most of the city. Subscribe to our editorially crafted newsletter, follow our fun and helpful Instagram, and last but not least, allow our timely notifications to be sent to you so you can always be up to date and in the know.
Our goal for The Boston Calendar is and will always be to help Bostonians (and non-locals) discover fun things to do around the city before they happen. And it’s no different with our new app, Joyraft. Only now you’re just one click away from finding those experiences.
We’re just getting started and always striving to be better. We plan to eventually launch Joyraft to other cities. We’re always open to feedback so please feel free to reach out to [email protected] with any questions and honest thoughts– we have thick skin, you won’t hurt our feelings, promise! And, please make sure to turn on automatic updates in your settings. We are going to be adding a lot of new features over the coming months!
Thank you for being a part of The Boston Calendar’s community and for helping us continually grow. We hope you’ll enjoy Joyraft as much as we’ve enjoyed building it for you.
