The Blues Magoos:
The Blues Magoos, the legendary New York psychedelic band behind the hit single “We Ain’t Got Nothin’ Yet,” is proud to release their first new album in 40 years: Psychedelic Resurrection (Kayos). The Blues Magoos are garage rock forefathers, pioneering a sound that has been echoed by bands as diverse as The Ramones, Television, The White Stripes, The Strokes, the Black Keys, Ty Segall and Parquet Courts. An important staple of the 1960s Greenwich Village scene, the Blues Magoos purveyed proto‐punk psychedelia, from their signature takes on classics like John D. Loudermilk’s “Tobacco Road” and James Brown’s “I’ll Go Crazy,” to originals like “We Ain’t Got Nothin’ Yet” (which became a massive Top 5 hit). Psychedelic Resurrection is a 12‐song reclamation of that sound. The album boasts not only new material, but re‐recorded Magoos anthems, proving that four decades haven’t slowed the band down one bit (excellently stated with 6th track “I’m Still Playing.”)Original members Ralph Scala (lead vocalist/keyboardist) and Peppy Castro (vocalist/guitarist), along with drummer Geoff Daking (who has been with the band since their debut Psychedelic Lollipop), are joined by new members Mike Cilberto(guitar) and Peter Stuart Kohlman (bass) on Psychedelic Resurrection.
