We are pleased to inform you that the 2016 Kumamoto Earthquake Relief Charity Film Screening and Live Music Event in Boston will be held on May 28th, 2017 at Longy School of Music of Bard College. In this event, we will put a Japanese movie “Utsukushii Hito (literary, The Gift of Memory)” on a screen with English subtitle. We will also have a live music performance by Boston Chamber Orchestra String Quartet. They will play Studio Ghibli musics on a stage. This event is kids friendly.
Our goal of this charity event is to invite students in Kumamoto to Boston in the future, and give them opportunities to visit colleges and have conversations with college students and researchers. We hope to help students have their own DREAMS and HOPES through interactions with people who are working to realize their dreams in Boston.
In Kumamoto, a city far away from Tokyo, students don’t usually have chances to see people with big dreams. Furthermore, many children went through traumatic experiences due to the 2016 earthquake. DREAMS are needed more than ever. We hope to inspire students through “The Gift of Memory” project.
