ABOUT THELONIOUS MONKFISH:
We're passionate about ethnic flavors & jazz, and so we’ve branded our unique take on sushi & Asian specialties: Thelonious Monkfish. Nothing warms the palate like an explosion of flavor or the heart like a burst of song! Chef Ginger loves to jam on Asian culinary themes! Her menu reflects both gustatory tradition and a sense of play and innovation.

Live jazz, sushi, and our personal interpretation of Japanese, Thai, Chinese + Vietnamese cuisines are the mediums through which we hope to disperse kindness + loving service. Nestled in Central Square between MIT and Harvard University, we serve Cambridge + Boston's hungry students, professors, professionals, tourists + business people. Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings, Boston's top jazz performers create a cool vibe on our Jazz Baroness Room stage–one of the many ways we aim to enhance your dining experience!

ABOUT THADDEUS HOGARTH

Thaddeus Hogarth continues his musical evolution as an award-winning singer/songwriter, balancing it with his career as guitar faculty at Boston’s famed Berklee College of Music.

Born in England and raised in St. Kitts, West Indies, multi-instrumentalist Thaddeus Hogarth brings a diverse set of musical influences to his current Boston-based project. As an original recording artist, he leads a powerhouse unit delivering a collection of serious funk-rock R&B tunes that make you stop, listen and groove. The line-up includes virtuoso Kenwood Dennard on drums, Winston Maccow on Bass and David Sparr on keyboards. This band holds nothing back and the live shows are electrifying.

Thaddeus has previously shared the bill or stage with the likes of such legends as Tower of Power, Ernie Isley, Average White Band, Fred Wesley (James Brown), Bernie Worrell (Parliament Funkadelic), Matt Schofield, Steve Kimock, The Neville Brothers, Eric Gales, Johnny Winter and James Montgomery.

The Thaddeus Hogarth Band was one of only 24 music acts that was hand picked to represent Bose nationwide in a program to launch their award winning Personalized Amplification System (™) family of products. This unique cutting-edge sound system has changed the way live music is amplified and recorded, and was used to record Thaddeus’ 4th solo CD, “Live at Bose” (Higher Ground Records) which earned him his second Independent Music Award for R&B/Blues.

The tunes and production of Thaddeus’ releases pay an obvious tribute to his childhood influences. These range from the 70’s soulful styles of Bill Withers and Sly Stone to the hypnotic grooves and sociopolitical commentary of the early reggae movement in the West Indies. The feel is raw and organic with many of the defining sounds of the 70’s: B3 organ, Fender Rhodes, Hohner Clavinet and Thaddeus’ ever-present wah-wah rhythm guitar. Adding to this mix is his chromatic harmonica playing, reminiscent of early era Stevie Wonder.

As an educator, Thaddeus has authored a highly acclaimed guitar instructional book, “Funk/R&B Guitar: Creative Solos, Grooves and Sounds” on Hal Leonard/Berklee Press: Book – Funk/R&B Guitar . This book outlines his unique approach to guitar instruction. This is explored in depth in his Berklee Music Online Course: Funk R&B Guitar Funk/Rock and R&B Guitar

His “Intro to Guitar” course on Coursera (Coursera) has been featured on the Today Show and NBC and enrollment has surpassed 120,000 for a 6 week period.
