TCN UpStart Roundtables are monthly gatherings at the Venture Cafe that bring together Boston-area early-stage startups and seasoned entrepreneurs. This free series with The Capital Network, Venture Cafe, and Silicon Valley Bank is a great opportunity for you to ask burning questions about starting a company and meet other like-minded entrepreneurs in a casual cafe setting.


This week our theme is Music & Audio Innovation. With Panos Panay no longer able to attend, Parviz Parvizi has come to talk to us about the future of audio with a discussion about Clammr, the Social discovery app and platform for audio he co-founded.
Clammr’s mission? “To do for audio what Twitter and Instagram did for text and images.” Indeed, Clammr brings audio content into the social media conversation. They drive audience growth for audio creators by making their great audio easier to discover and share. They provide audio creators and their fans with tools to grab & mash up sound bites (max 24 seconds) tied to longer audio, feature them on our platform, and distribute them for native playback on social platforms like Facebook and Twitter. Their social audio creation plug-in is integrated with infrastructure providers serving 85k out of the 120-150k active podcasts. Apple named them a Top 15 Best New App in January 2016; Oxford’s Reuters Institute featured them among 5 major tech/media trends for 2016; and Microsoft’s head of product marketing for Emerging Media named them one of 10 companies all marketers should watch in 2016. We can’t wait to hear more!


Speakers:
Parvizi Parviz is co-founder of Clammr, a mobile app and platform making great audio more social and discoverable. Users are calling Clammr, which features audio clips of 24 seconds or less, the Instagram and Twitter of Audio. Previously, Parviz worked at McKinsey & Company, Goldman Sachs, the FCC, and O’Melveny & Myers.


He has advised top 5 global media companies and mobile carriers on strategy and growth. He was a founder of McKinsey’s iConsumer research initiative on digital consumer behavior, authoring 3 of the Firm’s 10 most-downloaded media sector knowledge documents. Parviz holds a JD from Yale Law School and AB from Cornell.


Pete McDonald is the Relationship Manager the Emerging Technology Practice at Silicon Valley Bank. Pete has over 20 years of experience working with startups and works primarily with early stage Technology and Life Science companies.


Pete moderates The Capital Network’s Upstart program which is a series of fireside chats with entrepreneurs held at the Venture Cafe (CIC Kendall) once a month.
