In a fictional universe, the United States is faced with a growing number of superpowered Americans who draw their abilities from magical objects, biological experiments, and futuristic technology. An incident in Tulsa involving an abuse of super powers leads to a national tragedy. There is public outcry by some to regulate powers while others demand protection for the rights of the superpowered. How will the nation respond? Should superpowered humans be regulated? Should regular Americans be able to purchase superhuman powers? Should superpowered humans enjoy Constitutional rights?
Tackle these questions as a senator for a day during the world premiere of the Edward M. Kennedy Institute’s Super Powers Senate Game.
In this live, multi-player game, participants use their legislative skills of deliberation and negotiation to create laws to govern this unexpected situation, and debate important questions about how superpowered people and objects should be taxed, regulated, and treated under the law. Using interactive technology, players will grapple with issues of civil liberties, corporate interests, and national security. As a senator for a day, each player must decide what is best for the future of the nation.
Like a true Senate debate, participation is limited to 100 Senators. This game is recommended for ages 14 and up. Children under 14 may participate if accompanied by an adult. Tickets are $25, $20 for Members.
Ticket price includes general admission to the Institute. They can be purchased at http://bit.ly/2w6AHkW.
