A stormy Caribbean cruise, a secretive sea captain, an impending hurricane, and lots of adventure and mystery take center stage in Michael Erb’s new book The Weather Detectives. Join Michael as he dives into this thrilling weather-themed mystery. He’ll share cool weather photos, fun facts, and fascinating weather history.
For instance, did you know that someone once tried to predict the weather using living leeches? It’s true! Did you know that, over a hundred years ago on the icy continent of Antarctica, two teams raced to be the first people at the South Pole? At this event, you’ll also look for shapes in clouds, learn how to estimate the distance to lightning, and find out about weather activities you can try at home.
Author Michael Erb is an assistant research professor at Northern Arizona University, where he conducts research about the Earth’s past climate. As a scientist and author, he confronts mysteries both in his research and in a good book.
