Live racing returns to Suffolk Downs this summer with three 2-day racing festivals, the first of which coincides with the running of the Belmont Stakes on Saturday, June 9 — the third leg of the Triple Crown.
The three festival weekends are scheduled to be held June 9-10, July 7-8 and Aug. 4-5. 4. The weekend events live racing, food trucks, and family fun activities including pony rides, a bounce house and face painting.
Gates open at 11:00 a.m. and first post for live racing is scheduled at 12:00 p.m. Over the course of each weekend, there will be stakes races restricted to either horses foaled in Massachusetts or sired by a Massachusetts-based stallion. Each offers a purse of $50,000 and is a showcase for the Massachusetts Thoroughbred breeding industry.
