Violinist Ilmar Gavilan, a native of Havana, Cuba, has a remarkable career that has taken him all over the world. Gavilan has performed for global leaders such as President Obama of the U.S. and Queen Sofia of Spain, as well as with diverse and renowned artists, including Itzhak Perlman and Chick Corea. A first-prize laureate in the Sphinx Competition and top honor recipient at the Lipinski-Wieniaswski and Henryk Szeryng International competitions, Gavilan is a founding member of the Harlem String Quartet.
