Join us for the second Story Slam at the Greasy Luck Brew Pub on February 12, 2018 at 7:00 P.M. (doors open at 6:30 P.M.). Tellers from all walks of life are encouraged to come up and tell their five minute true story based on the theme “Stupid Cupid.” If the judges think your story hit the mark you will win a $50.00 cash prize and move on to the Grand Slam Story Slam in the spring. If you don’t think you have the courage to tell, you will enjoy the trivia in between tellers! If you win the trivia game, you also get a prize.
Your hosts will be noted storyteller and author, Karen Chace, of Freetown and massmouth.org co-founder and storyteller, Andrea Lovett, of South Shore Storytelling Series. Together Chace and Lovett hope to create some fertile storytelling ground in New Bedford.
If you have love the Moth then you will love the new South Coast Storytelling Series. Chace and Lovett have been producing Story Slams in the area for many years.
What is a Story Slam?
A Story Slam is a competition based on the art of telling stories about real-life experiences on a specific theme, and within a set time limit; modeled after The Moth. (www.themoth.org)
Members of the audience from all walks of life and every age group drop their names in a hat for a chance to tell a five-minute, true story on the theme “Stupid Cupid.” Others love to come and listen to the stories. Indulge in some freshly brewed beer and delicious food.
