After the indecisive election results, the Trump campaign and the Republican party are leading a massive effort to prevent hundreds of thousands of votes from being counted. This effort has a clear racist character -- stopping the mail-in vote count in major urban areas that have majority Black populations is voter suppression.
Despite the uncertainty in the election outcome, one thing is clear: working class, poor, and oppressed Americans are in great need. We are in the middle of a pandemic, an economic, health and housing crisis that is impacting millions of people across the country. Regardless of who wins, these needs won’t disappear. The U.S. government has all the resources to meet the needs of the people, and it is choosing not to intervene on behalf of the workers and the poor. We must unite, organize, and take the streets.
The struggle for the right to vote has been a central struggle of the Black Freedom movement and the fight against voter disenfranchisement continues to be all too real in 2020. We demand an immediate end to racist voter suppression.
We are ready to defend our rights and ready to fight more than ever, regardless of the outcome of the election!
When we fight, we win! Democracy Requires a New System!
