STL GLD
Formed in 2014 by Moe Pope and producer The Arcitype, STL GLD has earned a reputation as one of New England’s most electrifying bands, celebrated for their powerful message and exhilarating live performances.
While rooted in Hip Hop, STL GLD (pronounced STILL GOLD) defies simple categorization. Their shows weave together Hip Hop, Rock, Punk, and cinematic orchestration, creating an unforgettable experience that transcends genre. This fearless approach quickly drew recognition, earning them “Live Artist of the Year” at the 2018 Boston Music Awards and the title of “Boston’s Best Band” from The Improper Bostonian. Their sophomore album, Torch Song—winner of the BMAs “Album of the Year” in 2017—propelled them onto stages alongside Eminem, Khalid, and The Roots.
With their third release, The New Normal, the band continued to push boundaries, forging groundbreaking collaborations with the Museum of Fine Arts and the Boston Symphony Orchestra.
The global pandemic shaped their fourth album, Rock Boyega, both in process and theme. Anchored by reflections on mental health and the search for hope in uncertain times, the record captured the weight of its moment. ‘Rock Boyega’ ultimately sets the stage for what was next to come; STL GLD’s fifth studio album, ‘Good Music For Bad Kids’.
After the weight of pandemic, the band made a conscious and deliberate choice to shift from making music as a tool to cope with and express their pain, anger and rage, to an act of joy. The band returned to their early roots to pull inspiration and create an album that explores a new and exciting next chapter for STL GLD.
