Get cozy in your own home and Zoom into the Loring Greenough House for stories and crafts.
About this Event
Winter has definitely arrived, and it's the best time to cozy up with some virtual fun!
Each year, the Loring Greenough House has offered a school-vacation week event celebrating cultures around the world... and this year will be no different, except kids can "join" us in our parlor right from your living room! We'll be reading the book, Lost and Found Cat, doing a cat craft project (all materials can be found in your house- see list below), and even having a fun virtual dance party.
Make some hot chocolate, grab a blanket to snuggle with during the reading, and join us for an hour. Free!
Craft Materials List:
construction paper (or any paper you like!)
pens or markers
This craft is simple for even the youngest crafter with some adult assistance.
How it works: A Zoom link will be sent to the email used to RSVP on the morning of the event.
About Lost and Found Cat: The True Story of Kunkush's Incredible Journey:
When an Iraqi family is forced to flee their home, they can't bear to leave their beloved cat, Kunkush, behind. So they carry him with them from Iraq to Greece, keeping their secret passenger hidden away. But during the crowded boat crossing to Greece, his carrier breaks and the frightened cat runs from the chaos. In one moment, he is gone. After an unsuccessful search, his family has to continue their journey, leaving brokenhearted. A few days later, aid workers in Greece find the lost cat. Knowing how much his family has sacrificed already, they are desperate to reunite them with the cat they love so much. A worldwide community comes together to spread the word on the Internet and in the news media, and after several months the impossible happens Kunkush s family is found, and they finally get their happy ending in their new home.
