What secrets does Somerville hold? Are there places here that share disreputable similarities with the fictional Hill House? In this Spooky Somerville edition of GUST we hope to hear your paranormal, strange, and scary local tales.
Boston’s GrownUp StoryTime is an hour of funny, heartwarming, crazy, amazing stories read aloud in Somerville once a month. Remember storytime before bedtime? Well this is just like that only replace a loved one with a weird stranger, warm milk with craft brews and your bedroom with Remnant's cozy brewery. The best part is that you don't have to go to sleep afterward - cause we're all grown-up now! We take short short stories (fact, fiction, and everything in between) written by the community, give them to local performers, and hilarity and/or poignant storytelling ensues. Come enjoy a beer and listen to some great stories!
Community Conversations a recurring event at Remnant where members of the community are invited to join in the exploration and discussion of hot topics.
This Somerville Reads program is a collaboration between Boston GUST, The Somerville Public Library, and Community Conversations at Remnant Brewery.
This program is offered as part of the 2019 Somerville Reads campaign! Somerville Reads is a project that promotes literacy and community engagement by encouraging people all over the city to read and discuss the same book. Throughout the month of October, the Somerville Public Library will host various programs all related to the themes found in "The Haunting of Hill House" by Shirley Jackson. Copies of the books are available to check out at all Somerville Public Library locations and online through Overdrive. For more information visit tinyurl.com/somreads or call 617-623-5000 ext. 2955.
