How can the fight against discrimination serve everyone? In his latest book, Professor Perreau argues that minority issues concern us all and that solidarity, rather than competition, our political and social life.
In Spheres of Injustice: The Ethical Promise of Minority Presence, Perreau
introduces the concept of intrasectionality, a new legal approach that shows how protections for one group can extend to others. Drawing on concrete cases, he demonstrates how minority experiences can foster responsibility, and lead to better environmental protection, and more democratic institutions.
Perreau situates his argument in today’s changing context, where traditional understandings of minority and majority are being redefined. He invites us to reflect on an ethic of interdependence, showing how the experiences of different groups can resonate with one another and inspire new forms of responsibility, solidarity, and community.
Our author talk will begin with a reception at 6:30 PM, followed by the discussion starting around 7:00–7:15 PM. The evening will conclude with a Q&A session and a book signing.
The event will be held in French.
