Songs from the Subducted Sea charts a fluid, archipelagic world where volcanic calderas, drifting islands, and submersible forms echo "wandering trajectories”. Kaluhiokalani traces cultural and ecological flows across water, heat, and pressure, creating works that move like travelers between states of knowing and unknowing.
Paintings merge with paper cut-outs and immersive video and projection-mapped environments where shifting waters and garden-like growth systems mimic natural ecologies. The result is a sensory atlas… a luminous, cross-tidal encounter that frames identity, place, and meaning as ever-emergent,
ever-migratory, always in motion.
