Join the Boston Branch of the Party For Socialism and Liberation for a two-part educational and discussion series, Solidarity Beyond Borders: Anti-imperialist feminism in the US and Latin America, commemorating Women’s History Month 2021 on March 13th and March 20th from 4-6 PM.

With the recent election of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, many have hailed her ascension to the White House and their subsequent cabinet picks as a sign of real progress for women everywhere. While women rightfully fight for representation in public life and for access to jobs that women are fully capable of, is visibility in the highest offices of our capitalist system- the same offices that perpetuate war and devastation to women abroad while denying us the relief and support we need- the answer?

Working-class women disproportionately shoulder the burden of the negligently handled COVID-19 pandemic and yet continue to be on the frontlines of all struggles. The problems that working-class women face in the labor market and at home are not new, and they are impossible to address unless we address the source that produces such inequality and violence — capitalism.

In this two-part series, we’ll share our own definitions of feminism and analysis that speaks to the root of gender-based oppression faced by working-class and oppressed women while also uncovering the long tradition of Black feminist internationalism. For our second session, we’ll take a deeper look at the history and impact that US imperialist meddling in Latin America has on the material reality and lives of women in the Global South with a focus on the ways women have historically resisted from Haiti to Bolivia and more.

We seek to ask and respond to the central question- what is the root of women and gender-based oppression and what tools do we have to build a militant, mass movement to overcome it!
