Many software engineers face a classic challenge: the more senior you get, the less it feels there's room to grow without going into a management track. For those who prefer technical challenges to logistical / leadership, it can be frustrating if your company doesn't offer opportunities for advancement as an individual contributor beyond a certain point, or if you start running into diminishing returns from joining new companies even as a senior engineer.


We've put together a panel of Boston tech talent who have faced these challenges themselves, to share how they've continued to grow their careers while always staying close to code. They'll offer their perspectives on specialization and skill growth, opportunities to advance at a startup, when to look for new opportunities & what to be mindful of when doing it, ways to take on more leadership without committing to a management track, and more.
