Join author Casey W. Robinson for children’s storytime at Lovestruck Books!

We’re excited to host a magical reading event for young readers and their families on Wednesday, August 13! The event will feature Small Things Mended, a story that brings the generations of a community together to sustain and enrich one another, and it beautifully showcases the value of fixing things―and loving their history―rather than quickly discarding them.

Bring your little ones, relax, and enjoy an engaging, soothing storytime that will remind children—and grown-ups—of the healing power of community.

ABOUT SMALL THINGS MENDED

A picture book for fans of A Sick Day for Amos McGhee and Last Stop on Market Street.

Kindly Cecil has a broken heart, but when the kids in his neighborhood start asking him to fix their valuables—a music box, a watch, a stuffed elephant—he gradually finds that he knows just how to do this mending. And in return, his circle of new friends offers the mending that his own heart needs.

Small Things Mended is longlisted for the 2025 Massachusetts Book Award. It is also a New England Book Award winner, a Christopher Award winner, a Golden Poppy Award finalist, a Golden Kite Award finalist, a Kids’ Indie Next Pick, and was chosen for School Library Journal’s Best Picture Books 2024 list.

Guests who would benefit from priority seating or any additional assistance are encouraged to reach out in advance — just email us at [email protected]. We're more than happy to make arrangements to ensure you feel comfortable and supported.

We’re always learning and looking for ways to make our events more accessible. If you have suggestions or feedback, we’d love to hear from you!

We’ll be in touch via the email you provided at checkout to help coordinate pickup. After 6 months, if we haven’t heard from you or made other arrangements, we’ll consider the book abandoned property and may donate it or return it to inventory so it can find a new home.

Thanks so much for your understanding and for supporting our events—we love doing this with you!
