This intensive six-session workshop guides ten artists through the complete process of creating a small group exhibition. The course covers all practical aspects of exhibition development including curation, artist statements, gallery relationships, promotional materials, social media, opening receptions, and public programming. The workshop culminates in a group exhibition at the Cambridge Art Association’s East Cambridge Gallery, CAA@CANAL.

Mallory A. Ruymann

Mallory A. Ruymann is a curator, art advisor, writer, and educator with extensive experience shaping contemporary art collections and collaborating closely with artists on exhibitions, large-scale commissions, publications, and public programs. Her practice is artist-driven and context-responsive, rooted in a deep knowledge of global art histories and a commitment to producing transformative, site-specific installations that engage artists and audiences alike.


As Managing Partner and Head of Curatorial Projects at art_works, Mallory leads the development of institutional and private collections while overseeing business operations, strategic growth, and partnerships. Over the past two decades, she has held roles across U.S. art institutions in curatorial departments, collections management, project management, art administration, and philanthropy. She holds an M.A. in Art History from Tufts University and frequently lectures at the university level, balancing her academic work with a mission to empower living artists and community-based art organizations to build meaningful connections with their publics.


In addition to her work at art_works, Mallory maintains an active independent curatorial and writing practice. Her recent writing has appeared in Sculpture Magazine and Boston Art Review, and recent curatorial projects include exhibitions at Boston University Art Galleries and Abigail Ogilvy Gallery Los Angeles.


She currently serves as Co-President of the Board of Directors at Boston Art Review and as Co-Chair of the Acquisitions Committee for Tufts University Art Galleries.
