Celebrate Disability Pride with All She Wrote Books, Kiera’s Cabaret, and Read My Lips Boston at Slay the Stigma — a Disability Pride drag show & mini book fair celebrating disabled joy, radical access, and fierce self-expression — coming to Connexion in Somerville on Saturday, July 19!
Disability Pride is a celebration of the strength, creativity, and diversity of the disabled community. It’s about rejecting shame and stigma, embracing our whole selves, and affirming that disabled lives are valuable, powerful, and worthy of joy. Whether you’re disabled, neurodivergent, chronically ill, or an ally, Disability Pride invites us all to reimagine what access, community, and expression can look like — loud, proud, and unapologetically bold.
From 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, this vibrant afternoon kicks off with a public mini book fair showcasing two disability-owned bookshop pop-ups, All She Wrote Books and Read My Lips Boston. You can expect to find both stellar nonfiction and fiction reads (with recommendations from onsite booksellers), stickers, swag and more!
Then, starting at 2:00 PM, the event will close to the public and transform into an exclusive performance venue, where ticket holders will be dazzled by a full-length drag show including disabled and neurodivergent performers, MC’d by Kiera Knox. Expect bold performances and a celebration of disability pride that pushes back against stigma.
Finally, the event will conclude with private shopping at the mini book fair for ticket holders.

DRAG SHOW CAST
ABOUT THE EVENT HOSTS
All She Wrote Books:
At All She Wrote Books, we think of “intersectional,” “feminist,” and “queer” as more than tokenized buzzwords. Rather, we see them as guiding lights for all who seek a safe and supportive space of people who love, respect, and care for each other. We are committed to supporting our neighbors and uplifting the voices that have been silenced for far too long. On our curated shelves, those whose stories have, for centuries, been forcibly rewritten can find themselves.
Kiera’s Cabaret:
Kiera’s Cabaret is a Boston based drag showcase, produced and hosted by Kiera Knox. Kiera’s cabaret offers a rotating cast, highlighting some of Boston’s most talented queens, kings, things, and everything in-between. Their mission is to provide an inclusive space to showcase drag’s rich history, culture, and its varied artistic interpretations.
Read My Lips Boston:
Read My Lips Boston is a diverse romance bookshop that partners with breweries, cafes, and other establishments to host monthly mobile shops all around Boston. Their curated selection of love stories centers authors and main characters identifying as BIPOC, disabled, queer, big-bodied, and members of other groups historically underrepresented in the romance genre. Read My Lips donates 10% of their proceeds to local and national non-profits and social causes.
