The Brookline Arts Center is pleased to present Between a Rock and a Hard Place by Sharon Whitham, on view at the BAC January 3-January 31, 2020. Join us for the reception Thursday, January 23 from 6:00-8:00PM.
Sharon Whitham is a printmaker and mixed-media artist who spends part of the year working out of her studio in Boston, and nearly half the year living on an island off the coast of Maine. For the past several years, she has spent part of each winter in Mexico. Sharon’s work is inspired by shapes and patterns from nature as well as themes of connectedness, journeys, balance, loss, change, and the paradox of permanence/impermanence. Her current work is especially influenced by the current tone of divisiveness in our country, specifically around cultural and religious tolerance and acceptance, and the crises around immigration and climate change.
