Join us for a thoughtful discussion about flirting! Have you flirted with anyone in the last month or so? How did you know you were flirting or been flirted with? Do you prefer flirting or people being more direct? Can flirting involve touch? We'll explore these questions and more!
After the discussion, anyone who feels like it is invited to join us for chatting and hanging out at Doyle's, a bar that is next to the Meeting Point.
What does "sex-positive" mean?
Sex isn't bad or shameful. Everyone has the right to decide how they want to (consensually) express their sexuality, and to be given accurate information about sexual health and pleasure. Having lots of sex is totally fine, as long as you're being ethical about it, and having no sex is totally fine, too. This article explains it really well: pervocracy.blogspot.com/2013/05/what-i-mean-when-i-say-im-sex-positive.html
Show-and-tell
Following the discussion, we'll have a brief show-and-tell of any sexual acceptance related projects anyone is working on. Feel free to bring your project (or information on your project) for show-and-tell, if you have one.
Who should come?
This is a public event for people of all genders, races, class backgrounds, etc. Our hope is to have a diverse crowd. Feel free to invite people!
Accessibility
This event is taking place at The Meeting Point, a social justice-based healing center in Jamaica Plain. The space is wheelchair accessible and has gender-neutral restrooms.
Donations
This is a free event. You are welcome to donate to Pleasure Pie for organizing the event / The Meeting Point for hosting us, but it is totally cool not to donate.
Safer Space
Sex Positive Boston strives to be a space where people are able to openly and honestly explore sensitive topics. At the beginning of the discussion, we will set some guidelines that aim to help people comfortable enough to explore these topics in a public setting. For now you can check out some guidelines we've used in the past here: http://www.pleasurepie.org/safer-space-guidelines.html
FYI: Coming to this discussion mainly because you're looking for people to hook up with or date is not welcome. This group is about sharing ideas. Please respect the purpose of the group.
