The Screaming Ostrich Film Festival hatches for its premiere year on Friday, October 18th at the Arts for the Armory in Somerville with a Halloween Bash! Doors open at 5:30pm with music from Special Guest, Stu Nunnery. Screaming… oops I meant film screenings of Halloween themed shorts (nothing too heavy) start at 7:30, there should be plenty of time to mingle and set the stage for a great night! Cash bar will be available. Costumes encouraged, but by no means required.

A ticket to the Halloween Bash night is $12. A Filmmaker Festival Pass, Halloween Bash + admittance to all 3 days of screenings + Closing and Awards Party is only $15. 7+ hours of films, documentaries, animation, and music videos will fill the weekend along with other events. Tickets available at http://screamingostrich.video/Halloween-Bash-Tickets

Saturday’s events will take place in and around the Capitol Theater in Arlington. A Free to the Public networking & panel session will take place at 12:00pm at the Fox Library. 175 Mass Ave Arlington Ma, right across from the Capitol Theatre. Writer and Director Johnny Hickey of “Oxy-Morons” and soon to be released “Habitual” is scheduled to be taking part on the panel and answering questions. Habitual is a story about a disguised rave drug, a young group of party-goers, and a criminally insane mental patient bundle together on a hellbent trip to an underground rave. Joining Johnny will be Stu Nunnery; composer, musical recording artist, actor and activist, resuming his music career after a 30-year hiatus due to a serious hearing loss. Additionally, Chuck Slavin will panel as a Pro-Union Film Industry Partner with over 10+ years in the local New England Film & TV industry. Chuck is also a card-carrying member of 3 entertainment Unions IATSE, SAG-AFTRA, & IBEW. Finally, Writer and Director Brendan Egan will be on hand to speak and/or answer questions will be “The Lost Boy” will be his third film to hit the festival circuit. At just 16-years old, he is one of the youngest registered screenwriters in the industry.

At 3pm is a Free 90-minute Family-Friendly screening event at the theater featuring the award winning "Snowflake." Snowflake is the story of Jesse, an introverted young girl, struggling with acceptance, who finds her voice with hip hop music.

6pm is the PG session where special guest, state Senator William Brownsberger, will speak about the issues covered in the documentary "The Battle for Ranked Choice Voting" which is featured in the showing.

8:30pm is a roller coaster of a ride, tearing you through everything from a serious documentary "The Science of Behavior", potty mouthed puppets in space "Higher Space" to "Dreams Made Real" conceived, written, shot, edited, original score, and VFX all accomplished in only 48 hours by Director Ned Scannell. Boston's Screaming Ostrich tried to include something for everyone and boy do we have a mix!

Sunday is the final networking event at 4pm followed by the final screenings at 6:30pm at the Enceuntro5 location at 9a Hamilton Place Boston Ma. This session is R-rated (18 and over). Rod Webber will be hosting his latest work, "Straight Pride is Hate Pride." Also scheduled is "Paying Up", a highly controversial film with a powerful statement on drug addiction.

The screening will be followed by a closing night festivities and awards ceremony at the same downtown Boston location.
