In connection with Map This, a Gardner Museum Community Engagement project, Visiting Studio Artist Anthony Peña transforms the Bertucci Education Studio into a space that encourages us to envision a more positive future through interactive, mapping-inspired experiences.
ABOUT ANTHONY PEÑA
Born and raised in Boston, Anthony Peña is a Dominican-American artist who is an alumnus of both Urbano Project’s and Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum’s youth programs. He has worked in both organizations in various capacities for the past five years. Anthony was also a participant in the 2017 Critical Participatory Action Research Institute with the Public Science Project. Afterwards, he became a Teaching Artist at Urbano, and co-led a six-month long YPAR project.
His passion for social issues informs his work, which often involves spontaneity, social commentary, and a certain amount of randomness. Anthony also explores how the arts can be used to teach and foster communication and dialogue.
