Ronald K. Brown and his extraordinary EVIDENCE, A Dance Company explore dance idioms from across the African diaspora, mixing Cuban, Caribbean, West African, and contemporary American dance forms to create high-energy works that joyously blend complex rhythms with a deep spirituality. They perform the Boston premiere of Brown’s latest work The Equality of Night and Day, co-commissioned by Global Arts Live. The work features an original score by acclaimed jazz pioneer Jason Moran set to spoken word by educator and activist Angela Davis. The program also includes Come Ye, inspired by the music and sociopolitical legacies of artists-activists Nina Simone and Fela Kuti, and the Boston premiere of Mercy, a collaboration with composer Meshell Ndegeocello.
“His work feels timeless and of the moment, all at once . . . poetic and spiritually uplifting”—The Washington Post
