TIMBER is an exploration of the beautiful, mesmerizing blend of hidden sound in simple wooden planks, uncovered through 21st-century amplificaiton. An ambient meditation on polyrhythms... trance-like...harmonically ambiguous... sublty virtuosic.
Timber has been hailed as "its own religious experience" (Sarah Garvey, Brooklyn Academy of Music), "bewildering yet comforting" (The Guardian), and possessing "vigor and hypnotic intensity" (New York Times).
Rest/Noise is a new Boston-based performance collective that centers around percussion, featuring alumni from Boston Conservatory, New England Conservatory, UMASS- Amherst and UMASS Lowell.
The first stop on our fall Timber tour is the Multicultural Arts Center in Cambrdige.
Thanks to the Cambridge Arts Council, the Massachusetts Cultural Council, and MASS MoCA's Assets for Artists for their generous support of Rest/Noise and this project.
