Responding to Sexual Assault Cases: Challenging Systems and Society

During this interactive program, leading researchers and advocates in the field will share perspectives on more than four decades of work examining how police, prosecutors, colleges, and society respond to sexual assault claims by women. They will share data from two federally funded studies—one which examines case attrition of sexual assault cases in six jurisdictions in the U.S., and the other which provides a systematic overview of how U.S. colleges are approaching the investigation and adjudication of sexual assault incidents. The panel will highlight broad systemic and cultural changes they believe are needed to improve responses and support for victims. Attendees will then join in the discussion to dig deeper and identify possible steps that individuals, advocates, and higher education and justice system practitioners may take to help shift systemic and societal culture in order to improve responses to sexual assault.

This program is free and open to the public. Interactive discussion will be encouraged. (Reservations are NOT required)
