With topography and climate unlike any other culinary region, Hawai’i’s cooking is vastly different from any other culinary region. The first Hawai’ians, Polynesian colonists, lived for nearly 1,500 years untouched by any other settler group and their traditional cuisine reflects that. But over a span of only 120 years, that food culture was influenced by seven major settler groups leading to a cuisine that utilizes specialty ingredients, with multicultural cooking techniques and food attitudes that is Hawai’ian cuisine of today! Come to the island with Sheri to sample the ono, a Hawai’ian word meaning pleasing or enjoyable, fare of Hawaii!
