This summer, many of us are suffering as student loan forbearance comes to an end, but our wages have stagnated and dropped from what we were promised when we enrolled. Higher education in the US has been locked behind a paywall. Jobs are unavailable and often unionless when we can find them. And despite paying taxes on all the meager wages we receive, there’s little support from the government that collects all that money from us.
Instead of serving us, our tax dollars fund genocides and the latest victim of US imperialism's "endless wars”. We know that the money being funneled into killing the working class abroad does nothing to serve us in the working class here. War doesn’t serve us, resources do! We deserve a system that meets our basic needs, like education, housing, electricity, and food. We need to use the time and energy we have to fight back against the system that’s squeezing us dry: capitalism. What’s more, we deserve to fight for a future that benefits us!
Join the Party for Socialism and Liberation for “Reading for Revolution: Socialist Reconstruction” as we envision what we are fighting FOR, not just what we’re fighting against.
We will focus on chapter 4, “Ending the Stranglehold of Debt and Finance Capital" and chapter 10, “Ending Imperialist War: Building a World of Solidarity and Peace”. You do not need to have or have read the book Socialist Reconstruction to participate.
