This evening-length live performance features Rafiq Bhatia’s latest album, Breaking English, transformed into an immersive multimedia experience by visual artist Michael Cina and video artist Hal Lovemelt. Born of an iterative, sculptural approach to composition, Bhatia’s recent work unites sound art with risky improvisation. He is joined for this performance by Ian Chang (Son Lux, Joan As Policewoman) on electronic and acoustic drums and Jackson Hill (Xenia Rubinos) on bass and synthesizers.
Rafiq Bhatia is a composer, producer, and guitarist. In 2014, Bhatia became a member of Son Lux, heralded as “the world’s most lethal band” by NPR.
Michael Cina is an artist, designer, and principal at Cina Associates.
Hal Lovemelt is a Minneapolis-based video artist specializing in live rendered visual synthesis.
