From flea beetles to fish fertilizer, learn how to recognize and prevent common plant stresses to keep garden plants healthy.
This workshop focuses on practical ways to keep garden plants healthy and productive throughout the growing season. Learn how to recognize and prevent common plant stresses, including underwatering and overwatering. We'll cover pest prevention strategies such as protecting brassicas from flea beetles using row cover, along with the benefits of proper spacing to improve airflow and reduce disease. You'll also learn how mulching and composting support soil moisture and plant health, and how to safely use fertilizers, including fish fertilizer—when to apply it after transplanting and how much to use to avoid burning plants. Walk away with simple, effective tools to protect crops and support strong growth.
Hosted by Dorchester Urban Agriculture Ambassador Memia McAllister.
