As our climate changes, so must our business practices. With future weather projections expected to include more frequent and severe flooding and an increase in days with temperatures over 90° and 100°, the city of Newton has just completed a draft Climate Vulnerability Assessment and Action Plan developed with support from the Metropolitan Area Planning Council (MAPC). The assessment identifies risks to Newton’s infrastructure, economy, people, and natural resources. The action plan recommends steps the city can take to be better prepared for, and resilient to, extreme weather events now and in the future. Please join us for a presentation of the Vulnerability Assessment and Action Plan and provide your feedback. Anne Herbst, Senior Regional Environmental Planner with MAPC will present the findings and lead our discussion. What are your concerns and priorities? What should the city do to help your business prepare?
