Run along the scenic Mystic River, the 2017 POTS Walk & 5K Race will start and end at McGlynn Middle School in Medford, MA. The race is chip timed and sanctioned by USATF. Participants are welcome to join us after the race for entertainment and refreshments. Proceeds from this event will benefit Dysautonomia International in the support of POTS research.


What is POTS?
POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome) is a disorder of the autonomic nervous system. It is characterized by an increase in heart rate of more than 30 beats per minute upon standing. Symptoms are widely varied, but can include palpitations, dizziness, nausea, fatigue, difficulty concentrating, fainting, sweating, etc. An estimated 1 million Americans suffer from POTS, primarily young women. The cause of POTS is still not understood and there is no known cure.
