Join us to celebrate the release of Ploughshares' Fall Longform issue! Contributors Juliana Lamy, Heather Thompson-Brenner, and Devon Walker-Figueroa will read excerpts from their work in the issue; copies of the issue and the readers’ most recent books will be available for purchase and signing after the reading.
About the Readers...
Juliana Lamy is a Haitian fiction writer from South Florida. She is the author of You Were Watching from the Sand: Short Stories (Red Hen Press, 2023), winner of Red Hen Press’s 2021 Ann Petry Award, winner of the 2024 CLMP Firecracker Award for Fiction, and longlisted for the 2024 Carol Shields Prize as well as the 2024 OCM Bocas Prize for Caribbean Fiction.
Heather Thompson-Brenner is a clinical psychologist and emerging writer in Cambridge, Massachusetts. She received her MFA in Creative Writing in 2024 from Boston University, where she received the Saul Bellow Prize and the Leslie Epstein Global Fellowship for fiction. Previously, she attended Harvard University and University of Michigan. Dr. Thompson-Brenner is working on her first novel, Feast of Fools, which is set in 1981 in a liberal, Christian commune.
Devon Walker-Figueroa is the author of Philomath (Milkweed Editions, 2021) and Lazarus Species (Milkweed Editions, November 2025).
