#pindropsessions

pindrop is...

a new, ticketed performance series (early bird entry is only ten bucks which supports the artists!) taking place the first Sunday night of every month at the AERONAUT taproom in Somerville, shining light on the ridiculous pleasure of listening, featuring a soft focus on classical music. No stodginess. No competing sound. Shared silence. And sweet musical goodness in our steel-tanked fermentation garden. Plus a sweet after-party hang with the musicians!

The pindrop sessions are co-hosted by 99.5 WCRB’s delightful weekday afternoon host, our dear friend Mr. Chris Voss!

Our October 1 launch event sold out within one hour and earned this photo wrap from Scout Somerville and this great review from the Boston Musical Intelligencer. (Thx friends!)

pindrop #2 will feature two thrilling and visionary ensembles making music at the crossroads of folk and classical music, curated by Emmanuel Music, one of Boston's premiere classical music presenters.

Floyds Row (7pm)
A British-American ensemble formed in Oxford (UK), roots revival band Floyds Row explores early, folk, and classical idioms on an array of modern and period instruments. Fusing a variety of styles, Floyds Row repertoire includes both original material and pieces pulled from the early British folk tradition and English Renaissance.

"A mix of Purcell and Bob Dylan played on various instruments, including an accordion and a viola da gamba. Kinda crazy, but it works." David Rabin, WPFW Radio

Hank Wonder (8:15pm)
Somewhere on the musical map, where the twang of Classic Country meets the grit of Southern Soul, Hank Wonder marks a detour down a sonic stretch of unpaved road. The Boston-based trio of Annie Bartlett (fiddle and viola), Darren Buck (vocals), and Michael Loria (guitar) first came together in 2013, and have since crafted their very own soulful blend of Americana: equal parts down home and gussied up. In November 2016, the band entered Dimension Sound Studios in Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts to record its debut album with producer and multi-instrumentalist Charlie Rose (Elephant Revival, Barnstar). Little Mysteries soon emerged as a strong set of 12 originals, each penned by Buck. Skillfully engineered by Dan Cardinal (Josh Ritter, Darlingside) and mixed by Lorne Entress (Lori McKenna, Mark Erelli), these tales of Downeast canoe rides, fables of reckless children, and odes to fine bourbon reward each new listen with lush layers of production, musicianship, and songcraft.

Our lives are short; our days mucked and muddled. We crave community and connection, and the thrill of sharing genuinely beautiful experiences: a quiet room, a fleeting, incandescent moment; a shared memory over something mysterious.

In the spirit of addressing this dire social need, AERONAUT proudly presents...

~pindrop sessions~

Aiming for the unrepeatable, pindrop will present some of most individual musicians and ensembles in New England – and a few national can’t-missers. You might hear a string quartet, a women’s choir, a symphony orchestra, or a lonesome country singer. You might hear us mash up two completely different types of performances in one night. Everyone we’re fortunate enough to present on this series has something unique and beautiful to offer your ears and souls. In a brewery.

Drop your days and distractions. Recharge your beauty batteries...

...listen for the pindrop!

FAQs

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

All ages are welcome! But national law prevents us from serving alcohol to anyone under the ripe young age of 21.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

Thankfully, Somerville allows free non-resident street parking on Sundays, and there's also a free lot at 15 Tyler St.

How can I contact the organizer with any questions?

Feel free to e-mail Jason McCool at [email protected] with questions regarding the event or entire pindrop series! He also enjoys obscure cocktail recipes, should you happen to know any.
