About Bridges to Malawi -
In 2012, Dr. Brian Lisse set up an annual medical mission trip to Malawi, Africa. Further galvanized, he established a non-profit, Bridges to Malawi (BTM), with a board of 8 like-minded health care providers. Working closely with their Malawian NGO partner, K2TASO and Malawian healthcare provider, Peter Minjale, BTM set up a series of medical programs focused on poverty, malaria, and medical training. Using the primary care model of prevention, Dr. Lisse has since expanded BTM to a full scale development organization including such programs as microcredit loans, reforestation, computer education, agricultrual training, solar panel installation, and female empowerment workshops. Each year a collaborative team of inspired doctors, nurses, educators, engineers, and agricultural experts travel to Kasungu, Malawi along with 8-12 American high school students for this life changing experience.
