Canadian soprano Rose Hegele is an active performer of 20th and 21st century art music. Specializing in contemporary opera, chamber music, and improvisation, Hegele is passionate about creating performance experiences that facilitate collaboration, human connection, embodiment, and presence. She has been lauded for her ease with extended vocal techniques, creating “siren-like sounds that explored extremes of the vocal range” (The Boston Music Intelligencer).

Upcoming engagements include a contemporary vocal residency at Clark University, performing Steve Reich’s Music for 18 Musicians at the Boston Conservatory at Berklee’s New Music Festival, performances with Peridot Duo in Boston and New York City, and Hegele’s debut with the Boston-based ensemble, Sound Icon, at Brandeis University.

Hegele’s desire to explore the limits of sound and physicality has led to diverse performance opportunities. Recent highlights include performing as the Guide in choreographer Trajal Harrell’s hoochie-coochie show, Caen Amour, at the Institute for Contemporary Art (Boston, MA); premiering composer Stephen Ryan Jackson’s voice and electronics piece i can feel the universe expanding… at Jordan Hall (Boston, MA); performing with Guerilla Opera in Andy Vores’s Chrononhotonthologos (Boston, MA); and performing Erin Gee’s Mouthpiece 28 at the 2018 New Music Gathering in Boston, MA. Hegele has attended multiple contemporary music and art festivals including Revolution: Resonant Bodies at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity; the Cortona Sessions for New Music, the Summer Institute for Contemporary Performance Practice, and the soundSCAPE Composition and Performance Exchange.

A fiercely dedicated collaborator, Hegele is active as a performer and curator. She is one half of Peridot Duo: a contemporary vocal duo that uses creative programming to highlight challenging and alternative methods to vocal chamber music. Hegele also features in the Lilac Project: a voice, cello, clarinet trio that champions the work of composers from underrepresented backgrounds. As curators, Hegele and singer-songwriter, Lena Belle, created Life As An Artist: a showcase series where artists come together and express the multifaceted experience of being an artist in the current world.

Hegele was awarded a Post-Master’s Degree Fellowship from the Berklee College of Music for the 2018-2019 academic year. She holds a Master’s Degree in Contemporary Classical Music from the Boston Conservatory at Berklee and a Bachelor of Music Degree in Vocal Performance and Musical Arts from the Eastman School of Music.

Soprano Stephanie Lamprea is an active performer, recitalist and curator in the United States, specializing in 20th and 21st century classical repertoire. Her solo performances have been described as “electrifying”, and she was awarded 2nd place in the international John Cage Awards, sponsored by the John Cage Orgel Stiftung in Halberstadt, Germany. Her work in curation was also recently awarded a grant from the Puffin Foundation.

Stephanie devours mammoth works of virtuosity and extended technique with ease and creative insight. Works of note she has performed include Kate Soper’s IPSA DIXIT, Georges Aperghis’ Recitations, Schoenberg’s Pierrot Lunaire, Luciano Berio’s Folk Songs, and Shostakovich’s Seven Verses of Alexander Blok. She has performed as a solo and chamber musician at National Sawdust, Shapeshifter Lab, the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, Miller Theater at Columbia University, the Terrace Theater at Kennedy Center, the Slipper Room, and Park Avenue Armory.

Her interest in contemporary performance has led her to sing new works by composers such as Bernhard Lang, Nathan Davis, Kaija Saariaho, Jason Eckardt, Anton Webern, Olivier Messiaen, Kate Soper, George Crumb, Aaron Jay Myers, Ashkan Behzadi and Reiko Fueting. She is one half of Peridot, a contemporary vocal duo that uses creative programming to highlight challenging and alternative methods to vocal chamber music. Her current projects include Recitations in Movement, a performance in collaboration with Laila J. Franklin to raise funds for Rosie’s Place, a shelter for homeless and battered women, and Pidgin Talk, a commissioning effort dedicated to creating new works for voice that alter linguistics and thrive upon extended techniques.

Stephanie completed her studies at Manhattan School of Music, where she worked with Maitland Peters and Lucy Shelton. She is on the extended rosters for Ekmeles (NYC) and the nationally acclaimed Crossing Choir.
