Most years, the President’s State of the Union address highlights the past year and suggests priorities for the year ahead. It’s a broadcast from one to many. But democracy is a conversation, not a monologue. Understanding the state of our union takes We the People reflecting in our own communities, coming together across political divides, sharing our stories and listening.
The People’s State of the Union is a national event conceived by US Dept of Arts & Culture and coordinated in 500 towns across the US.
Join us in an informal group to share your own stories reflecting this nation’s recent past and immediate future. No need to prepare anything. Just show up and be yourself.
This event is hosted by the Eliot School of Fine & Applied Arts, which inspires lifelong learning in craftsmanship and creativity for all, teaching art and woodworking in Boston schools and community centers, and all kinds of craft and visual arts at two Jamaica Plain locations. Light refreshments will be served. Feel free to bring friends, just let us know how many people to expect.
