In honor of Women’s History Month, the GCWS is hosting our first ever opening feature for the Women Take the Reel Film Festival!
Join us on Friday, February 23, 2024 at 6pm for a screening of the groundbreaking documentary At Your Cervix, followed by a panel discussion with the director A'magine, and a light reception afterwards!
This event is free and open to all, but registration is required as space is limited. The screening and reception are at the MIT Bartos Theatre.
About the documentary: At Your Cervix breaks the silence about how medical students learn to perform pelvic exams. Following filmmaker and sexuality educator, A’magine, the film exposes how students are often taught on unconscious patients without their knowledge or consent. Interviews with students, patients, doctors, midwives, politicians and advocates provide compelling and often deeply emotional testimony as to why nonconsensual and unethical pelvic exams on patients under anesthesia must end. The film offers an empowering solution that will revolutionize how pelvic exams are taught and performed in schools and clinics across the country.
The screening is organized by the GCWS and co-sponsored by the MIT Media Lab and the MIT WGS.
