Open Streets Boston 2026

Open Streets Boston returns for 2026, closing off neighborhood streets for a free, car-free day of community programming. All events run 10:30am–3pm, with streets closing at 9am.

Family-friendly, pedestrian-focused events that transform City streets into vibrant, car-free boulevards where people can dream, play, and explore.

During Open Streets events, neighborhood streets are closed to vehicular traffic to create room for community and play. The events allow local businesses to expand into the street, and to safely make space for music, games, bicycling, community tabling, and more.

All Open Streets events take place from 10:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Streets will be closed to vehicular traffic starting at 9:00 a.m. and reopen at 4:00 p.m. Parking will be prohibited along the route from 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

• Jamaica Plain — Sunday, August 2 | Centre St. from Lamartine St. to Lochstead Ave.
• Mattapan — Saturday, September 12 | Blue Hill Ave. from River St. to Babson St.
• Allston/Brighton — Sunday, October 4 | Brighton Ave. and Harvard Ave. from Cambridge St. to Commonwealth Ave.
• Roslindale — Sunday, October 18 | Roslindale Square from Belgrade Ave. to Washington St.
