Did you ever want to go to art school but accidentally went to law school instead? Somerville is a city full of artists–become one of them for a night!
High above Union Square, a different kind of school is in session. For one night only, a collective of Somerville’s arts organizations and businesses that call themselves Somerville Arts Engine is transforming 10 Prospect Street into One Night Art School—an immersive, hands-on arts experience where you can sample a semester's worth of creativity in a single evening.
This is no passive lecture. Come draw a live model, add your mark to a community mural, sing along with the Strummerville Ukulele Club, or pinch a pot. Hop into an interactive podcasting experience, learn to pop, or attend a Q&A with professional artists. Grab the open mic for some live comedy coaching, drop into a collage session, and experiment with color theory. Come try a little bit of everything, no prerequisites required!
Your professors for the evening are some of Somerville's most beloved arts organizations and creative businesses, including Boston Figure Art Center, Arts at the Armory, Deborah Mason Performing Arts Center, EventThem, KMW School of Painting, Mudflat, New Impressions Print Studio, Somerville Open Studios, The Somerville Museum and Tiny Turns Paperie.
