No other New England family enshrined its own history more methodically than the Codmans of Lincoln, Mass. Of the last generation to live at Historic New England’s Codman Estate, it was architect and designer Ogden Codman Jr., who embodied this impulse most fully.
Join Prof. R. Tripp Evans for an exploration of Codman’s enthrallment to the eighteenth-century world of his great-grandfather and great-great uncle, two brothers whose ambitions (and even vices) Codman sought to match. By researching and ultimately reenacting the lives of his ancestors, Codman proved himself a “revivalist” in every sense of the word.
