Britany Karlson, bass, leader, a wonderful up and coming, yet in demand Boston creative musician leading a trio of accomplished musicians from Boston and New York, with Matt Delligatti, guitar, Nick Neuburg, drums
two more young players who know the improv-alternative-underground scene as much as anyone!
Free Form, Acoustic, Jazz-beyond-Jazz and Improv as dictated by the moment, musicians, listeners, environment, atmosphere, everything, everybody present…
Bassist/vocalist BRITTANY KARLSON is an adventurous musician with roots in jazz, American folk music, and improvised music. She has performed across the USA, Canada, and Europe in a variety of ensemble settings, including improvised trio Letter Castle and American old-time/bluegrass/Swedish string band The Goodbye Girls. When performing solo, Karlson improvises, performs original songs under the moniker Karl, or ducks behind her bass to perform a lighthearted puppet show with many props. Karlson is an AmSAT certified Alexander Technique teacher. She is based in Boston.
MATT DELLIGATTI is an improvising guitarist based in Boston, Massachusetts. Playing with groups like Listening Woman, Every Kim Parcell, Letter Castle, Custom Drummer, and others, his music bridges the gap between disparate influences ranging from Derek Bailey to Karen Dalton. Currently Matt is most likely to be found galavanting as his musical alter ego, Kevin Wynd is Secret Roger, or photographing native bees near his home in Jamaica Plain. He’s the program manager of KIdsArts, exposing youth to music!
Nick Neuberg is a so-called “percussionist” began to play music at a very young age, attending Jamey Aebersold's Summer Jazz Workshop, University of Miami Frost Young Musicians' Camp; Antonio Adolfo's Brazilian music school, and School for Improvised Music in Brooklyn during his formative years. He received a Bachelor’s Degree in Jazz Studies from the New England Conservatory of music in Boston. Now back in New York.
Extrajamicular activities: Nick mostly play solo. The past few years have seen Nick touring and recording with Boston band Creative Healing. In the past, he’s played and composed for Particulars, and was a supporting member in the Ryan Power Band, Dougie Poole, Negative One, Aykroyd, Tri-Cornered Hat, Listening Woman, Stephe Cooper, EKP, and other groups.
The Creative Music Series is proud to support these musicians and live music!
