The New England Indonesian Festival (NEIF) is an event annually held by Permias MA and Indonesian Community of New England, Inc. (ICONE) in Boston that promotes Indonesian culinary, arts, and culture to the New England community. Since its launch in 2013, NEIF has been held at Copley Square, Boston and has attracted over 5,000 attendees annually.
This year our theme is titled "Pasar Festival". 'Pasar' is the Indonesian word for ‘market’. There are countless bustling Pasar in Indonesia, where people come from all walks of life to purchase the freshest variety of ingredients – ranging from herbs and spices to poultry, to authentic street snacks – or better known as Jajanan Pasar.
With this theme, we hope to give our guests a unique and personal experience of an IndonesianPasar at its roots and transport them to an ever-bustling Indonesian market. ‘Pasar Festival’ is just one aspect of Indonesia’s rich culture and heritage, and we hope to be able to share this with people from different cultural backgrounds in Boston.
The festival is supported by the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in New York and the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Washington, D.C.
